In todays econmic environment with bailouts, tarp money and senate hearings on AIG bonuses; is it still okay to entertain? YES!

Now more than ever it is important to show how much you appreciate your employees and clients by giving them a night to remember. And coinsidentially, now is the best time to find bargins on terrific talent.

Today, most entertainers are looking to fill dates and are willing to negoiate their normal performance fees. Of course, offers should be done within reason and should never be expected to be accepted. That being said, don’t feel that you will insult a performer by asking to negoiate a contract and their rider requirements. However, you should be willing to go forward and contract the performer if the lower than normal fee is accepted.

Recently at a conference a performer was ready to go on stage when he received a tap on the back. His client told him that they decided not to go foward with his performace because there was a reporter in the audience and they didn’t want the bad press. How absurd!

There shouldn’t be a black cloud over the hospitality industry. It effects hotels and their employees, local industries such as restaurants, entertainers and vendors. It should remain as a viable way of showing your employees and your clients how much you appreciate them.

Does every event need to bring in celebrity talent or be a million dollar production? No; budgets will dictate what kind of talent can be brought in. There are plenty of great corporate entertainers out there that are under $5000 and $10,000 that guest will love. Working with an experienced agency will help you locate and contract really great talent that won’t break the bank!
